We just got back from our trip to Florida, it was amazing!! We flew to Ft. Lauderdale on Wednesday, and then drove from there, through the Keys, to Key West on Friday. We went fishing for tarpon on Saturday and had a blast. Lots of good food, good drinks and good fishing!!
We ate at Billy's Stone Crabs on Thursday night in Hollywood Beach, and I had the Mahi Mahi Key West Style. (Fresh fish of the day lightly sautéed in butter, white wine sauce then topped with jumbo shrimp, jumbo lump crabmeat and garnished with sliced avocados)
On the way to Key West we stopped at Hogfish Bar & Grill and had a Hogfish sandwich...now that's good eatin'!!!
Friday afternoon after arriving in Key West, it was time to start the Duval Crawl!! Some of the bars we stopped in: Schooner Wharf Bar; Hog's Breath Saloon; Eat it Raw; Sloppy Joe's Bar; Finnegan's Wake and that's just a few!!

Let the fishing begin!!! We went out with Capt. Rick Keys Tarpon Charter, out of Islamorada and in about 20 min's I hooked up on a 7ft 200 lb Tarpon!!!
I had to hand off the rod to Scottie after about 30 minutes, I couldn't hold on any longer!! I was jelly!!
We fought that fish for 2 hours and 3 minutes. We all took turns, me, Scottie, dad, Capt, then we started over again. We got the fish to the boat 5 times, but never could get it to roll over so we could get our hands on it good. Finally the line broke and it swam away. It was bitter sweet.
Scottie caught a 5ft nurse shark also.
